Hoping to hit 50….

 We decided to start a new hobby a year ago, Geocaching.  After reading about it and talking to a cousin, we decided to give it a try.  We found our first one on January 1st and had a goal of finding 50 by the end of the year.  We found our 50th find in July.  Clearly, we were hooked.

 

Geocaching has been this added adventure to our VanLife outings.  It gives us something to do on long drives and has been fun to hunt for treasures other than discovering some amazing eateries (see a future post on our favorite restaurants so far).  The treasures aren’t just the caches, these caches have led us to some remarkable places that we would have otherwise just driven by.   

We have found caches in Washington, Oregon, and British Columbia this year.  We also convinced a couple of friends and family members to join the fun.  On our family trip in May, we gently forced my parents, siblings and their families to go searching for a few!  We fell in love with the adventure labs, found our first trackable at the Original Geocache in Estacada, Oregon, and gained souvenirs along the way.  We found traditional, multi-caches, mystery, EarthCaches, letterbox, virtual, and even a webcam cache.  And of course, the dog is always happy to run around and “help” us search.
